Ulster County Divorce Records

Divorce records encompass various documents filed or created by the court in relation to a divorce case. They often include the divorce decree, the divorce certificate, and the divorce case file. The divorce decree serves as evidence of legal termination of the marriage and can be used officially for name changes, property ownership, etc. While divorce records are assumed public, access may be restricted for certain records, such as those maintained by the New York State Unified Court System.

Information included in divorce records includes the names of the divorced spouses, the date the divorce was granted, the case number, the name of the court that issued the divorce decree, and the terms of the divorce (spousal/child support, child custody/visitation, and property division). Note that only basic divorce information is public. Divorces are handled by the Ulster County Supreme Court and this court processes public record requests.
